TARKINGTON, Booth. MAUD AND COUSIN BILL XXXII [UNPUBLISHED RADIO MANUSCRIPT]. 11 pp. mimeographed radio script, several letter-folds. With provenance letter, 1 p. typed, signed by Ruth Benedict, on Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company letterhead (the sponsor of the broadcasts). This doesn't seem to have been published, although it was in all likelihood broadcast. The comic dialects, boisterous young characters and goofy malapropisms make for entertaining reading. Benedict's letter refers to Maud as kindred to "Gentle Julia"'s Florence (Jane Withers in the film version). An original and wonderfully ananchronistic item, guaranteed to please radio drama fans.
